Tonei Glavinic

Tonei is a social justice educator and nonprofit operations manager currently based in Mexico City, Mexico. Born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska, they have been working on social justice and human rights issues in the United States since 2006, with a particular focus on LGBTQ communities and education equity.

They currently work as Director of Operations for the Dangerous Speech Project and as a program facilitator for the Civic Education Project, a service learning program for students in grades 7-12 based at Northwestern University. They also serve on the Board of Directors for Trans Lifeline and the GLSEN National Advisory Council.

Tonei also has a passion for travel, including leveraging points and miles to make travel more accessible. They write on this subject for a variety of outlets, including Travel with Grant on the Boarding Area travel blogging network.

Tonei holds a BA in Political Science and Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies from American University and an MA in Social Justice and Community Development from Loyola University Chicago.
