Filing taxes from abroad can be confusing. Let’s make it simple.

The United States is one of the only countries in the world that taxes its citizens on our worldwide income, regardless of where we live. But when we live abroad, there are tools we can use to avoid paying taxes on some or all of our income.

Whether you consider yourself a digital nomad, an expat, an immigrant, or an accidental American, we can work together to make sure you comply with your legal obligations and don’t pay any more than you have to. And you may find yourself eligible for valuable tax credits or refunds from the U.S. government, like COVID-19 stimulus payments.

Don’t worry if you’re behind on your taxes – we can work together to get you caught up and to keep you on top of things moving forward.

(P.S.: I also have years of experience working with US-based clients in multiple states, so I’m happy to work with you even if you’re not living abroad.)

I also have extensive experience with California and Illinois state returns, and have prepared returns for clients in many other states.

  • It’s okay! The IRS has a special procedure called “Streamlined Offshore Compliance” where as long as the IRS hasn’t initiated an examination of your returns, you can typically get back in good standing by filing returns for the past 3-4 years. Contact us for more information.

  • We’ll give you a client intake form that will walk you through the information we need including your income during the year, business-related expenses, and details about any foreign bank accounts. You’ll also need to provide copies of your tax returns for the past two years, any tax forms you received like W-2s, 1099s, and 1095-As, and a photo ID.

  • Eight Stars LLC is an authorized E-File Provider, so I will file your return electronically whenever possible. However, some returns cannot be filed electronically, including returns with an ITIN application (Form W-7).

In these cases, I will give you the completed return with instructions to sign and mail it to the appropriate IRS office. I can also help coordinate mailing services upon request.

  • Pricing is based on the complexity of the tax return, with individual returns starting at $175 and corporate/partnership returns starting at $400. Click here for more information on pricing.
